aries / kendrick - good match, exciting opener. motherfucking brain buster for the win !!
van dam vs jerry lynn - not a great opening 5 mins or so, van dam looked slow and blown out. by the end it was ok apart from a botched spot or two. they beat the hell out of each other.
joe / morgan / crimson - fun match, but TNA ought to be worried that their two babyfaces A) looked like idiots throughout the match and B) got booed.
bubba / anderson - this was great. match of the night with aries/kendrick. they beat the piss out of each other, bubba heeled on philly pre-match and kept his heat through the match. hot crowd. they improvised well from the botched finish - however the spot where bubba hit a piledriver on anderson on the concrete floor and got a 2-count was retarded.
the knockouts - this was a clusterfuck, karen jarrets heel stuff made them all look bad. should have had a normal ref, done the bump, got karen in there for the spot with winter.
stiles / daniels - this was all sorts of shit. earl hebner annoyed me here, he'd stick the mic in their faces for the most regular submission holds early on and hold it there way too long while we listened to them sell. then daniels says he's going to murder stiles in cold blood so his wife best put the kids to bed, just a stupid, phony thing to say. and the finish was so bad. should have let these two have a straight match, the i quit stip fucked it all up.
sting/hogan - much better than i thought it would be, and IF this was hogans farewell match, complete with face turn, and immortal is disbanded, i'd be very happy with this. but we'll see, because rumours of a tag match are gathering pace and he has just signed a new deal hasn't he. no-one wants to see him or flair hurt themselves anymore
roode / angle - i've tried to look at it from every point of view but this was just bullshit. roode should have gone over here, no doubts.
overall
this was largely good and would have got the thumbs up but for the title match at the end. the crowd was kind of flat for the main event and pretty spent after sting/hogan, and it was pretty short what with kurt being injured. it's bullshit that roode is not the champ right now on so many levels.
TNA also need to look at (not copy, but look at) what WWE do to make their big main events seem like a bigger deal. roode/angle was pretty flat for the above reasons, but things like having no pyro doesn't help either. for the title match at their biggest PPV of the year, i want to see pyro, a different ring introduction, anything that seperates it from the rest of the card and gives it the big-deal, big-fight atmosphere.
also their video packages are good, but they only tell half the story. for example the video package for AJ / Daniels told nothing of the story they've been having on impact recently, which has been a good, old-skool wrestling angle.
